Caden's car quilt

I found this cute fabric I couldn't resist and knew I wanted to make a quilt for Caden's new bed.

I loved the string of cars and decided to make them look like they were following each other around the quilt.

Then I pieced a little road for them to "travel" on.  I put a narrow black border between each section and finished it off with a black and white stripe binding.

I had purchased several pieces from this line, not really planning ahead of time how I would use them.  When I decided to use them for the back, I really had to juggle the pieces to make it big enough, but it turned out fun.

The pattern is called Disappearing Nine Patch.

Fourth of July Shirts

 I knew we would be going to the Condon 4th of July parade so I wanted the kids to have shirts for the celebration.  I found shirts for the boys at Old Navy, but I made the girls'.  I cut a red T-shirt into strips and ruffled them for the stripes.  I used a piece of navy knit for the corner and sewed white buttons on for the stars.

Road Trip Bag

Since the grandkids will be taking road trips this summer, I wanted to make some little things to make their travel a bit easier.  So I made these little bags that tie around the headrest.  They are reversible.

I like the see-through vinyl front which makes it easier for the little ones to locate what they want.

And of course, I had to put some goodies inside.  This is a dry erase book made out of a pocket photo album.  I love these dry erase crayons.  They make bright colors and don't wipe off when touched by little fingers.  But they do erase easily with the cloth.  Everything fits inside the little pull-string bag.  More about these dry erase books here.
