Feedsack Quilt

This quilt is made from 2 1/2 inch squares and quilted with perle cotton in different colors. It was donated for a  benefit auction. Honestly, it was tough to see it go.

Quick Star Quilt

I decided to make a baby quilt on the spur of the moment. When I saw this pattern, I jumped on it. And better yet, all of the fabric came from my stash.
I really like the colors, but I'm not so sure about the dark blue border. Probably would change that if I could. Oh well. I still like it, even more when it came out of the dryer, all fluffy and puckery.

What are you up to today?

I had a little time today...finished one project...and had just a short time before I had a meeting.
Wondering what to start, I spotted a little pillow form that needed a new cover.  It's about half-size of a regular bed pillow. Using the "burrito-style" method, I made this little cutie.
I've been saving this Little Golden Book fabric and this seemed like a good time to pull it out. I love the way it turned out.
I hope little Brady likes it when he comes to visit Grandma this weekend.

Valentine Packages 2016

Last year I made the grandkids chair-back envelopes for Valentines Day (you can see them here) along with goodies to go inside.  One surprise for each day February 1-14. Of course, I want to send a refill of goodies for this year!  So here's what I came up with.
First, these 5x7 cards with tiny envelopes I folded.  I think they are about 1 1/2 inches x 2 inches. But what's inside?

Stitched together the kids' names on little hearts.
I used the wax paper to stitch on, but then pulled it off.

Can you see the heart?  It's upside down...but it folds into an envelope...

with a little "Knock Knock" joke book inside.

 Heart puzzles found here
Paper airplane found here
Valentine cootie catcher...I wrote little Valentine messages behind each flap
No, they are not real matches...pretzels with red dipping chocolate tips
Valentine Tic Tac Toe found here

 Love these little origami boxes...
with little origami heart dollar bills inside!
 Folding directions here
Art project making confetti heart
All packaged up and ready to send!!  Yeah!

Triple Barnstar Quilt

Quick, easy and fun!!
I loved putting this quilt together and I love the fabric.

Love this quilt!

I saw a picture of a quilt like this on Pinterest and really liked it.  I didn't have a pattern but there is one available here.  It's called Diamond Patch quilt.

I love the little nine-patch block around the edges and the border that is sewn on right with the other blocks.  Putting the blocks together on-point is always tricky for me but this went together easily.

Road trip pencil pouches plus!

It's time for the grandkids to travel again this summer.  So Grandma put on her thinking cap and came up with this idea:  three-ring binders.  The first thing I made was pencil cases.  They are kind of oversized because I knew I would have lots of bits and pieces to put inside.

Then I loaded the notebook with activites that fit each grandchild like patterns,
sudoku,
mazes,
 alphabet practice,
 color by number,
 fill-ins,
 mad libs,
 and hangman.

I put some of the sheets inside plastic sleeves so they could be used over and over.  The black felt works great for an eraser for the dry erase marker on the plastic sleeves.

I love to do things with magnets for road trips and a Dollar Store cookie sheet works great for this.
